DIAMOND BAR – Erick Nettles received a distressing call at work from his daughter on Wednesday morning. She informed him that she was hiding under the bed and there were intruders in the house downstairs.
Nettles instructed his daughter to hurry to the master bedroom, unlock the gun safe and hurl his prized limited edition AR-15 out the window (in its protective case of course), then turn herself into the intruders causing a disrtraction so they would not pursue the weapon.
“I knew my gun would stand a better chance if they were focused on her,” says Nettles. “They only made a few thousand of these. It would be near impossible to replace.”
Fortunately for Nettles’ daughter, the intruders only wanted her jewelry and she was left unharmed. Both gun and daughter were found safe. When questioned, the 15-year-old girl said, “I know it was difficult, but my dad made the right decision. That gun really means a lot to him.”
